Jennifer "Dreamgirl" Holliday starts off Disconet's exciting New Year program with a first class remix of "No Frills Love." This latest 12", from her "Say You Love Me" album on Geffen, will ignite your winter dance floor. "No Frills Love" was produced, arranged, and mixed by the legendary Arthur Baker, with co-production help from Gary Henry. This tune is one of several cuts from a truly musical experience of an album. We love you Jennifer.
Heartbreakers, featuring Jonnie Coleman, are next with "What Do Boys Know About Love." This new Reality Records 12" is a powerhouse. Pernell and Jerry Bloodrock wrote and produced this selection. Credit goes to Joey Moore as executive producer. Joey, along with Jerry Bloodrock, arranged and mixed "What Do Boys Know," and a "mix of doom" was done at Unique Studios by Steve Peck. Disconet has woven these two mixes together for your dancing pleasure.
SPECIAL NOTE TO DJs: Side A runs 15:48, from 120 to 124 BPM (beats per minute).
The Weather Girls, Izora Armstead and Martha Wash, are two ladies that have been bringing you tons of fun over the years. Now they are back, this time a little slower and a little heavier, with "No One Can Love You More Than Me" from their latest Entertainment Company/Columbia album titled "Big Girls Don't Cry." Danny Krivit, an eleven year veteran of the New York club scene, first at The Roxy, Area, and Danceteria and now at Laces and Down Under, has furnished Disconet with a fine guest remix. The cut has been extended and reworked to work even harder on your dance floor! Thanks Danny.
The Weather Girls were produced by Hank Medress and Jeff Kent for Double Vision Productions. Associate producer was Joe Venneri, and L. Leon Pendarvis was the arranger for Pinwheel Productions. The "Big Girls Don't Cry" album was recorded at Park South Studio by Joe Venneri.
Next up is 5 Star with their latest RCA 12" "Love Take Over." This is from their hit album "Luxury Of Life." The 12" was produced by Bernard Oattes and Rob Van Schaik For The Limit Productions, and was mixed by Paul "19" Hardcastle. Raul, with golden blade in hand, worked those grooves and made them funk for you.
SPECIAL NOTE TO DJs: Side B runs 16:05 from 100 BPM to 120 BPM.
Raul Rodriguez and Steven Von Blau are at it again, adding their magical touch to a-ha's "The Sun Always Shines On T.V.". "Take On me," the first 12" from their Warner Brothers album "Hunting High and Low," brought this trio to international attention. The group consists of Pal (pronounced Paul) Waaktaar on guitar and keyboards, Mags on keyboards, and, the vocalist, Morten Harket. Additional keyboards on the 12" version of "The Sun Always Shines" are supplied by Jack Waldman. Produced by Alan Tarney, the 12" was remixed by Steve Thompson and Michael Barbiero at Mediasound. A-ha has made quite an impression on the music scene already. Now with this special Disconet version the sun will shine on your dance floor.
Rick Ashton returns. You'll remember Rick's premiere appearance on Disconet on Program 3 of Volume 8. This time we bring you his latest Gem 12", "Dancing + Romancing." This is a Raul remix, with special finishing touches furnished by Steven, that will get your crowd dancing and romancing!
