AUTUMN POWER PLAY PROGRAM

The Original Remix Service

Swing Out Sister, and Debbie Gibson Megamixes:

"Breakout", by Swing Out Sister on Mercury/Polygram Records starts off Disconet's Autumn Power Play Program.  Andy Connell, Corinne Drewery, and Marin Jackson make up this dynamic trio from Great Britain.  Mike Carroll broke out his golden razor blade to create a Disconet Edit that will knock out your crowd.

For Debbie Gibson, being a pop star is not only in her dreams, but a reality.  "Shake Your Love" is her second instant chart busting hit on Atlantic Records.  "Shake Your Love", was written by Debbie Gibson, arranged by Debbie and Fred Zarr, with Fred Zarr producing, and "Little" Louie Vega mixing.  Mike Carroll took advantage of four exciting mixes from the 12", to create an edit that will shake your floor.

SIDE A RUNS:  7:14 at 116 BPM, and 6:02 at 122 BPM.

Jamie Dean, and Bananarama:

"Love Child", by Jamie Dean, starts off our electrifying high energy side.  As an import from the U.K., this romantic cover of The Supremes' classic created quite a buzz.  Now, on Capitol Records here in the U.S., this floor packer has been remixed by Jurgen Korduletsch.  Taking advantage of the different mixes on the 12", this Disconet edit will have your crowd singing along with the bouncing ball.

"I Can't Help It", but I heard a rumour that the new Bananarama single will really Wow you.  This London/Polygram Records 12" has the usual magic touch of Stock, Aitken, and Waterman; in other words, it's a hit!  Steven Von Blau has added his touch, and has created an edit to wow your floor.

SIDE B RUNS:  6:37 at 121 BPM, and 7:41 at 123 BPM.

Man Parrish "Hip Hop" Remix, & Ellis "D":

Just when you thought it was safe to dance, comes the "The Pit Bull Mix" of the classic "Hip Hop, Be Bop (Don't Stop)", by Man Parrish.  This hip hop standard from 1982 still sounds as fresh and innovative as it did five years ago.  Keyboard wiz Mark Styles and Steven Von Blau, have added exciting new tracks and effects for a remix that has a bite that won't let go.

Next is the hottest record on the streets of New York, "My Loleatta" by Ellis "D", on Minimal Records.  This innovative, conceptual record incorporates the soaring vocals of Loleatta Holloway, and powerhouse musical tracks, that will rock the house.  "My Loleatta" was produced, arranged, and mixed by Junior Vasquez.

BONUS SIDE 1 RUNS:  7:16, at 116 BPM, and 6:16 at 120 BPM.

Pepsi + Shirlie, Zenobia, & Evelvn Thomas:

Pepsi + Shirlie, who appeared on Disconet with "Heartache" (Vol. 9 Pro. 10), return with, "It's A Shame".  This infectious soulful tune, with a mean bass line, moving percussion, and hard hitting vocals, was produced by Phil Fearon.  Henry Winslow has created a special version of "It's A Shame" that will have them screaming for more…

"Baby, I'm Still In Love With You", by Zenobia, is next.  Zenobia, who was formerly on Streetwise Records, produced Rocker's Revenge's "Living For The Weekend", and had her own "In The Night" go top ten in Dance Music Report.  "Baby I'm Still In Love With you" was written by Zenobia with Ed Walsh, and was engineered by Doug DiFranco and Ed Walsh.  This exciting mix by Doug DiFranco, will wow your floor.
For more information on Zenobia and this tune, contact: Zeta-E Productions at 212-923-4394.

The ever prolific Evelyn Thomas is back with her new Nightmare Records 12", "No Win Situation".  Teaming up again with Ian Levine, the two "High Energy" experts, have created a song that will charge up your floor.  Need I say more?

BONUS SIDE 2 RUNS:  6:19 at 118 BPM, 4:50 at 120 BPM, and 6:14 at 128 BPM.

and more for your floor…

Last month Steven used this back page to write his thoughts on Disconet, and to thank those who helped along the way.  Now it's my turn.  (We don't give watches away anymore, so we have to fill up the space somehow.)  Seriously, I wanted to let you know that we really appreciate the enthusiastic response and good wishes we received regarding our 10th anniversary celebration.

Our special anniversary program came about through the combined efforts of many talented people - you know who you are.  Thanks, guys.  We couldn't have done it without you.  A special thanks goes to Brian Chin for his beautifully written notes for the DJ News.

It was good to see all of you at our party at The Saint.  (Lee Eckinger came in all the way from Detroit.  Mike Carroll, Al Siewert, and Dr. Fred Held couldn't make it, but promised they would be at the 20th anniversary bash.)  Steven and I want to thank the gang at The Saint, and everyone else involved in making the evening a memorable one.  DJs Tuta Aquino, Chuck Parsons and Terry Sherman packed the floor all night.  Nikki Lauren, Jayne Edwards, and Claudja Barry all gave steller live performances that had the crowd going wild.  Jennifer Rush, who was on tour in Europe and unable to appear in person, sent a video produced especially for the occasion.  A good time was had by all.

As a long time member of the Disconet family, it has been a rewarding experience to watch Mike Wilkinson's progressive and controversial idea find an accepted place in the dance music industry.  I'm happy to have the opportunity to work with Steven as he takes Disconet into its second decade.

In recent months we have made some changes in the program format; i.e. Direct Metal Mastering, innovative editing technics, individual timings, and separation between cuts.  Some of these changes were in response to your calls and letters.  Hopefully they have proved useful to you.  We value your suggestions and input, so feel free to call anytime.  It's always a pleasure to hear from you.  After all, you're the ones responsible for keeping us around for 10 years!

Love, Pat
